A minimalist monolith in the up-and-coming, artsy and celeb-filled desert town of Joshua Tree, California, is up for sale at $1.75 million.
Stars have been flocking in droves to the desert area in the past few years, thanks in part to the Joshua Tree National Park, which has become a sought-out rock-climbing spot for actors Jared Leto and Jason Momoa. The area also got a boost in visibility in 2014 when Beyoncé and Jay-Z shot promotional video for their “On the Run” tour, and back in 2016 when U2 re-released 1987’s “The Joshua Tree.”
Situated on a massive 5 acres surrounded by boulders, the listing states it “feels like 100+ acres as it backs up to protected boulder laden land.”
Pegged as “highly unique” and the perfect getaway haven, the home is newly built after Kud Development scooped up the land for only $87,000 last year, property records show.
But it’s unknown how much they spent on the build.
Designed by Urban Architectural Space Group, the aesthetic presents a rectangular industrial-modern theme with optimal privacy, as it’s surrounded by the Mojave Desert.
Less than an hour from Palm Springs, the residence is located in San Bernardino county and is made up of two bedrooms and 2.5 baths, and spans over 1,600 square feet.
Built with concrete and foam, the energy-efficient abode features high-end finishes, JennAir appliances, Eso Surfaces custom terrazzo tile throughout, recessed, electric window blinds, Fleetwood sliders, rift cut oak doors and cabinetry and custom LED lighting.
The material results in an earthquake- and fireproof-resistant structure, and provides protection in supreme heat.
Amenities include a library, a reading nook and dual master suites with a powder room.
“This home is perfect for a vacation rental or for family use, although highly designed with vacation rental in mind,” the listing adds.
The property is also a mere 10 minute drive to the village.
