World’s largest superyacht selling luxury condos — by invitation only

Real Estate

A 721-foot-long superyacht named Somnio is now offering condo units on board that start at a whopping $11 million — but not just anyone can purchase a residence.

The exclusive luxury vessel, made up of only 39 units, is invitation only. Scheduled to launch in 2024, it will be known as the largest superyacht in the world.

Although it resembles a cruise liner, the floating tower, which is currently under construction, has been pegged as the “world’s first ‘Yacht Liner,’ conceived to provide all the benefits of superyacht ownership and finished to the highest possible standards,” according to the press release.

London’s Winch Design and Tillberg Design of Sweden have spent the past 18 months bringing this project to life.

“It will be finished to the highest possible standards, with onboard amenities [and] service … only found in the world’s finest hotels,” the press release stated.

Investors will have the option of buying a home on one of six apartment decks. Features will depend on the owner’s selection, which can include a personal kitchen, a gym, a library, inside-outside dining spaces and dressing rooms.

Full concierge services will be available for both at-sea and land-based needs.

The entire project is projected to cost approximately $593 million upon its completion and is overseen by Somnio co-founder Capt. Erik Bredhe, who previously oversaw the World, which is currently the only residential vessel at sea.

“The World has been a phenomenal success, though it is time for true superyacht co-ownership.” Bredhe, who is now embarking on a new vision for ultra-luxe living on the ocean, told The Post.

“Somnio will be the only residential superyacht in the world, and has been designed to exacting standards that are commensurate with a life of opportunity,” Bredhe added. “Owners will share a truly unique lifestyle at sea, with a hand-picked crew and a never-ending global itinerary of carefully selected destinations and experiences befitting a yacht of this nature.”

The project is being led by Carl Le Souef, founder of the skin-care company Private Formula International. He also founded the sustainable technology company Somnio Global.

Amenities on board will include a 10,000-bottle wine cellar and tasting room, a choice of restaurants and bars and an onboard beach club featuring water-sports facilities.

Somnio is focused on slow-paced travel, with plans to explore the four corners of the globe, from the Mediterranean to the South Pacific, or a week in New York and expeditions in Antarctica.

Private yacht sales hit an all-time high in May, with 68 transactions, after taking a massive hit during the COVID-19 pandemic.
