Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka listed their Harlem brownstone for sale Friday, asking $7.325 million.
Harris, 48, purchased the 4-bedroom, 4-bathroom, 2-powder-room home in 2013 for almost $3.6 million after a very public search, even taking to Twitter to look for sellers.
“I guess, why not Harlem?” said the “How I Met Your Mother” star in a 2014 Charlie Rose interview when asked about the purchase. “We like the city of Manhattan. We looked at places that were bridges away, but we kind of wanted to be in it. And I think for the most bang for your buck financially, Harlem is a pretty good buy.”
The 8,000-square-foot, 5-story home was built in 1908. After the purchase, Harris hired LA designer Trace Lehnhoff and New York architect Jeffrey Povero to update the brownstone, which maintains original molding, millwork and soaring ceilings, brokers said.
“If this house could win an Emmy, it would. There is so much soul and character that it’s hard to pinpoint standout features because there are too many to count,” listing broker Vickey Barron of Compass, who shares the listing with Compass’s Pacey Barron, told The Post.
The most bizarre feature he added to the house is the top floor office, which is hidden behind a trick door. It opens by pressing the eyeball of a magician on a vintage poster, and inside is original art from the Haunted Mansion in Disneyland, according to the listing brokers.
The home also has a library, a formal dining room, a music room, a laundry room, a gym, a wine cellar, a playroom and three fireplaces, according to the listing.
The kitchen, where his daughter Harper makes pancakes on Saturday mornings, has a pantry, cabinets, Caesarstone countertops and a marble backsplash, according to the listing.
The home theater is decked out in velvet red with seating for nine, where his family usually watched movies like “The Kid Who Would Be King” on Sundays, he told The Post in 2019.
Outside, the home has 2,000 square feet of terraces, gardens and decks with a Jacuzzi, a pergola and a barbecue, according to the listing.
It is located near Marcus Garvey Park, where the “A Series of Unfortunate Events” star and his family often visited, he told The Post.
Harris and Burtka, who wed in 2014, share their home with their 9-year-old twins, Gideon and Harper, plus their dogs, Gidget, Spike and Ella.
