What’s old is new again, especially when it comes to this property in Great Britain.

More than 500 years old, a mansion in Kingston-upon-Thames — in greater London — has just listed for $17.5 million. But beyond its centuries-old age, there’s another unusual aspect that sticks out more.

Mansion Global reports this spread was originally built 70 miles away in the town of Colchester — considered to be Britain’s oldest recorded town — in the 1480s, then painstakingly relocated centuries later.

First built for a deep-pocketed salt merchant, an antiquarian bought it in 1910 for some $60,000 in today’s American figures when converted and adjusted for inflation. But on top of that, he spent an extra $5.12 million to have the home taken apart brick by brick, sent to the lot where it now stands — and fully rebuilt.

“Buyers are often drawn to a property because of its history, character and narrative, as well as its aesthetic appeal and the practicalities, such as size and location,” said Becky Fatemi, the founder and managing director of the home’s listing agency Rokstone, in a statement.

What’s more, Fatemi added, is that the 14,447-square-foot mansion underwent recent refurbishment, to boot.

The three-story Tudor mansion sits on 1 acre of mature landscaped gardens and comes with 12 bedrooms. Dubbed “Cedar Court” and located on Coombe Hill Road, there are also nine bathrooms. The listing notes its “Westwing” has a well-preserved Tudor hall with a gallery and dining hall — as well a study and living room with original stained glass windows, wood paneling and fireplaces.

Among the modern fixtures: a kitchen in the “Eastwing” extension with plenty of cabinets, marble counters and stainless-steel appliances. There’s also a laundry room, a garage and a cellar.

Three staircases reach the upper floors, which include the private quarters.

The listing’s images additionally show a koi pond located outside, handsome beamed ceilings, multiple other fireplaces and even room for a pool table.

“This will tick all the boxes for a high-net-worth family who want to buy the ultimate trophy home,” Fatemi added.
