I have 10 kids and live with them in an NYC ‘apartment’

Real Estate

Cheaper by the dozen? Not in this real estate market.

A prolific mom has gone viral on TikTok for this inside look at the brownstone unit in New York City that she shares with her husband — and 10 children.

Amber de la Motte, who uses the handle @TheHappyCaravan, has racked up more than 5.7 million views and counting by sharing the complex sleeping arrangements of her house on the top three floors of the brownstone.

“How we sleep as a family of 12 in our NYC apartment,” de la Motte captioned the clip, in which she visits a labyrinth of bedrooms in her triplex, waving to her children and spouse as they lie in their beds.

In bedroom number one, “where the big boys sleep,” her eldest sons Elijah and Josiah share a bunk bed; in bedroom two, “where the little girls sleep,” her young daughters Melody, Anna and Chloe share a bunk bed and a twin bed.

Bedroom three has Enoch and Noah sharing a fold-out bunk bed built Murphy-style into the wall; bedroom four has the “big girls” — Pearl and Naomi — in bunk beds, and bedroom five is for mommy and daddy Marc, with infant Moses sleeping at the foot of the bed.

The Legos also get their own bedroom, which doubles as a practice room for the extremely musical brood.

The cost?

De la Motte revealed in the comments that the property initially ran her and her husband $4,900 a month — but it has since gone up to $9,800.

“In this city that’s not a bad rate,” noted the mum of “ten homeschooled string-virtuoso children,” as Gawker once described the nuclear crew.

Their situation in the boroughs isn’t the fam’s first unique living situation: Before moving to the Big Apple, they made it work in a two-bedroom San Francisco apartment before piling into an airstream trailer and driving to the East coast so three of the tykes can go to Julliard.
