The ‘Oprah of China’ re-lists secret garden-equipped NYC home for $25M

Yue-Sai Kan, a TV host and entrepreneur who is known as the “Oprah of China,” has once again put her glam Manhattan townhouse on the market.

Kan, who is arguably the most famous woman in China, recently relisted her 8,500-square-foot, six-story manse for $24.99 million.

The abode is certainly elegant in its presentation. But the best part is it being among the handful of homes that form an L shape along Sutton Place and Sutton Square — located between East 57th and 58th streets abutting the FDR Drive — with access to Jones Wood Garden, a lush, 12,000-square-foot private park.

“This is an amazing amenity that is not available anywhere else,” said representative broker Sonia Bendt of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices New York Properties. “The open vistas of the East River and bridge are magical.”

Kan purchased the red brick Neo-Georgian property with her former husband for $4.5 million in 1989 and has renovated it multiple times over her three decades there, she told Mansion Global last year, when she listed the 33-foot-wide residence for $30 million.

It was briefly taken off the market this February before relisting days later, according to StreetEasy.

For Kan, the home’s best features are its enormous windows, its 6 Sutton Square address and its abundant good fortune.

“When you walk in the house, you immediately feel comfortable energy. In Chinese it means very good feng shui,” Kan told The Post, adding that, “In numerology, 6 is the luckiest number. It’s the planet of Jupiter which is the planet of luck and abundance. This could be why it has been a good house for me. Since I lived in the house, my business just flew off the chart.”

In addition to potentially bringing prosperity to the buyer, the historic townhouse also has an outdoor kitchen-equipped roof terrace, a dining room fireplace, various rooms for entertaining and, on the garden level, both a main and separate service entrance and a large back terrace.
