Realtor.com: MASSIVE Increase in Price Drops

Selling Real Estate
The number of houses for sale with price drops soared 84% from the same time period one year ago. Also, housing inventory (i.e. the number of houses for sale) is up 30% from a year ago BUT… it has more than doubled since late March! The share of price reductions is also at 36% according to AltosResearch.com (about double the share compared to April 1st of this year and about the same levels as this time in 2019. Because the number of new listings has dipped over the past 4 weeks compared to a year ago, the increase of housing supply is from a drop in homebuyer demand (for example, homes are taking longer to sell and pending home sales have been declining).
