Home in one: The top golf estates for sale in the Hamptons

Real Estate

In February, Discovery Land Company (the owner of Dune Deck), emerged victorious in its legal battle to bring a new 130-unit, 18-hole course golf community to East Quogue.

While sand traps may yet remain for the firm (which declined to comment for this story), its push to bring a new course to the already lavishly linked East End is evidence of the sport’s enduring allure. There are more than a dozen exclusive, pricey golf clubs in the Hamptons — many surrounded by grand estates.

Living on a golf course allows for “football field-sized lawns,” notes Douglas Elliman’s Martha Gundersen, who is listing a home at 91 Abrahams Landing Road, located directly on the back nine of the South Fork Country Club in Amagansett, with colleague Paul Brennan. “Golf courses are really beautifully maintained, so you basically get 100 acres right in front of you that you don’t have to pay for.”

Newly built near the 11th hole by Vault Development Partners, 91 Abrahams offers just such views, along with 12,395 square feet of living space spread over three floors, nine bedrooms, nine full bathrooms and amenities like a wellness center with a massage room and sauna, a media room and, of course, a golf simulator.

Gundersen will put in a good word. Just write a check for $15.95 million first.

In the famed golfing mecca surrounding Shinnecock Hills — which boasts not only the oldest incorporated golf club in the United States but also the National and Sebonack golf links — 18 Spring Pond Lane in Southampton is on the market for $2 million with Ina Charkow of Sotheby’s International Realty.

Located in the private Cold Spring Fairways community, the Ric Stott Architecture-designed home has 2,500 square feet, three bedrooms, three full baths and a pool.

A stone’s throw from the links but surrounded by trees, this more modest golf retreat gives you that cabin-in-the-woods feel mere feet from the swinging scene.

Meanwhile, at the Bridgehampton golf course, 201 Sagaponack Road is newly built and fully kitted out.

The shingle-style mansion is asking $21 million and has eight beds, nine full baths and 11,200 square feet.

Peep the fellas in plus fours just beyond the grounds from the 56-foot-long pool, or head downstairs to the amenity floor packed with a bar (grab an Arnold Palmer), a gym and a multilevel screening room.

It’s also on the market with Gundersen and Brennan.
