Inside a new $25M mansion coming to beachy NJ town that Oprah loves

This isn’t Snooki’s Jersey Shore.

A modern beach house currently under construction is asking $25 million in Avalon, NJ. It’s in the “high dunes,” and comes with six bedrooms and eight baths — on three-quarters of an acre.

“The town has evolved from a regular beach town into a Malibu West, East Coast Naples — or the Hamptons,” said listing broker Jack Vizzard, of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Fox & Roach, adding that it’s currently the most expensive beach house listing in the state. “This house will be for an executive or a public personality who values their privacy.”

The 7,240-square-foot residence, located at 5499 Dune Drive, comes with panoramic views from its wraparound third-floor deck.

It was designed by architect Mark Asher, and built by Seaside Development with Kiersten Marie interiors.

Details, when complete, will include a home gym and a sauna, a lap pool and a soaking pool.

“When I was a kid, there were people who worked hard in life and got here. Now it’s a millionaire’s club and for billionaires — I have four in my Rolodex,” Vizzard added.

Avalon and Stone Harbor are both on Seven Mile Island in Cape May County.

A pair of lots in Avalon recently sold for $21 million. It also made Property Shark’s list of highest priced ZIP codes in the country — coming in at No. 82 — and was the third most expensive ZIP code in New Jersey to buy a home.

TV icon Oprah Winfrey also visits the area during the summer with her longtime partner Stedman Graham, who hails from Cape May County.

“People love it here. It’s half the price of the Hamptons and the people are nicer. We don’t have the intensity of New York City. It’s a softer version, beautifully kept and people don’t have that edge.”

Ouch!

Although, Vizzard adds, “It has recently been discovered by New York City financial market guys. The same $40 million house in the Hamptons is $15 million to $20 million here — and there’s a four-lane parkway, so even though it’s farther away, it takes around the same time to get here from New York City.”
