Sylvester Stallone’s former upstate New York home lists for $4.29M

Real Estate

A property previously owned by both the actor Sylvester Stallone, and separately the cookbook author and Vogue food columnist Barbara Kafka, has hit the market in Garrison, New York.

Perched high on a hill in the hamlet and offering 180-degree views of the Hudson River, the residence offers more than 4,600 square feet of living space, including an indoor pool, set on slightly over 6 acres.

Houlihan Lawrence’s Abbie Carey holds the listing, which is seeking $4.29 million.

Property records could not confirm exactly when the “Rocky” star resided there, but it was likely in 1988, according to press materials. Barbara Kafka — who passed away in 2018 at the age 84 — purchased the 40 High Ridge Road home in 1999 and her family sold it in 2015 to Shea Spencer, the current owner and founder of the agency Artist Commissions.

Spencer regularly rents out the estate for “celebrity and high-fashion photoshoots,” and it has been featured in campaigns for Marc Jacobs and Bergdorf Goodman, among other brands, we hear.

First built in 1969, the four-bedroom, 3.5-bathroom abode recently underwent a gut renovation to transform it into a contemporary “monument to minimalism,” complete with floor-to-ceiling energy-efficient glass walls and doors, a new wraparound deck and an indoor sandstone pool, according to the listing.

Set at the end of a scenic driveway, the home’s ground floor opens to the kitchen, which has “copious flame maple cabinetry,” oversized butcher block counters, a vintage farmhouse sink and an oculus skylight. From there, the open-layout format flows into the dining and living rooms, which feature a woodburning fireplace, a modernist marble mantel and sliding glass doors to the deck.

Also on the first floor is an office and the glass-walled primary suite with a walk-in cedar closet and an ensuite bath.

On the lower level there is a media room, a guest suite with a sauna and two other bedrooms.
